A Montana House Representative says he's going to retire from the Legislature.

Robin Hamilton served three terms in the state legislature and was a vice-chair of the Education committee. Hamilton represented District 92, which comprises the Rattlesnake Valley, North Highway 200, Seeley Lake, and Condon.

He also taught in public schools for 32 years, 24 of which were at Hellgate High School and on Thursday, Rattlesnake Thank You Club Members recognized Hamilton's service to the district, county, and state.

Hamilton said that during his time at the legislature he didn't get to do what he's hoped for, which is talk about good policy for Montana.

"We tended to legislate by deal-making, and that's not how it should be done," Hamilton said. "I prefer to spend my energy trying to make sure that Democrats have 51, 52, 53 seats in the House and a majority in the Senate and then we can talk about progressive, good legislation for the state of Montana."
