An Ennis man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Scott Clark answered to charges before District Judge Loren Tucker in Virginia City, according to Madison County Attorney Chris Christensen.
Clark is accused of forcing his 30-year-old girlfriend into his vehicle the evening of May 8. Four people witnessed the incident and two people nearly hit by Clark as he sped off, according to Christensen.
The woman used her cell phone to send text messages to her parents with hints about where she was being held. After an unsuccessful air search, the woman was found, and Clark was arrested Saturday near a fishing access site south of Ennis.
The woman was unharmed.
Clark is charged with felony kidnapping, misdemeanor partner or family member assault and two counts of reckless driving.
He remains free on $2,500 bond.
An omnibus hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
