Crews mop up Bald Hill Fire near Superior

The Bald Hill Fire which is burning between Superior and St. Regis has been scaled back from 65 acres to 50 acres.

Officials say the blaze, which was discovered Friday afternoon at the base of Bald Hill on the north side of Interstate 90, is also fully contained.

A crew of Lolo Hotshots finished mopping up from the fire on Sunday night.

The Bald Hill Fire is now 100 percent contained.

Firefighters with the Lolo National Forest spent Friday night battling the lightning-caused fire between Superior and St. Regis.

The Bald Hill Fire was discovered Friday afternoon at the base of Bald Hill on the north side of Interstate 90.

The fire was about one and a half acres in size Friday night and reached 65 acres on Saturday.

Travelers on Interstate 90 in the area of the blaze can expect to see smoke and fire activity, but it is not impacting traffic.

The Lolo National Forest hotshot crew, several air tankers and two helicopters are on standby.

Firefighters were busy Friday night, battling a new lightning caused fire between Superior and St. Regis.

The Bald Hill Fire was discovered Friday afternoon at the base of Bald Hill on the north side of Interstate 90. The blaze is about one and a half acres in size.

Motorists are advised that if they are traveling on I-90, they will probably see smoke and fire activity, but traffic is not being impacted.

The Lolo National Forest Hotshot Crew, several air tankers and helicopters are working to extinguish the blaze.
