A 65-year-old woman is in custody after leading Montana Highway Patrol troopers on a high speed chase east of Billings.
MHP Trooper Justin Kirchheck says just after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, he clocked a car going 111 mph on Interstate 94, near Pompeys Pillar exit.
He says he tried to pull over the Pontiac G-6 with Missouri plates for several miles and the car would not stop.
Trooper Kirchheck told us he reached speeds up to 140 mph in order to catch up with the driver, who was driving about 130 mph.
A Yellowstone County Sheriff Deputy ended up laying down a spike strip east of Johnson Lane on I-90. Although the car's tires were punctured, the driver continued the pursuit at 80 mph.
She finally stopped after her tires had shredded. No one was hurt in the pursuit, but traffic was backed up for a short time.
Authorities say the driver is Olive Nightingale, 65, of Park Hills, Missouri. She was taken to the Yellowstone County Detention Facility and then released to Billings Clinic for a psychiatric evaluation.
Trooper Kirchheck says Nightingale appeared mentally unstable and was given two misdemeanor citations, one for speed and another for eluding and fleeing from a police officer.
Nightingale told troopers she was just traveling through Montana.
