The Ravalli County Commissioners and the Montana Department of Transportation have decided to reconstruct the intersection at U.S. Highway 93 South and Woodside Cutoff after hearing concerns from some area residents.
The Commissioners say that there have been several accidents at the intersection since its construction, so they took their concerns to the DOT, and now they are looking to make several changes.
Some of alterations include lowering the speed limit from 65 mph to 45-mph, installing a left turn signal for the traffic coming from the north and the south and reducing the length of median to give drivers better visibility of the oncoming traffic.
"I think that this is a good example of when people communicate and look to a challenging situation and are willing to partner and communicate, collaborate, you know that good results can happen" commented Ravalli County Commissioner Jim Rokosch.
He added while they don't have a date set for the reconstruction, commissioners hope to make the changes as soon as possible.
