A Frenchtown man is being held behind bars on a $100,000 bail after allegedly shooting at two people near the Alcan Bar on Wednesday.
A Missoula County Sheriff's Department official says that one of the victims is the 32-year old suspect's step-sister's boyfriend.
Officials say Shanon Lange, 31, and the victim were having problems for the last several months. The victim decided he was tired of Lange being in the middle of his relationships with his girlfriend. Prosecutors state in court documents that Lange allegedly stole some money.
Brian Doty went to Lange's house Wednesday night to set up a meeting and discuss the situation. The victim, along with James Spicknall drove up to Lange's house. Doty flashed his lights and honked the horn. Prosecutors say that when Lange came out of the residence Doty believed Lange was carrying what appeared to be a baseball bat or rifle. Doty then victim Lange to meet at the Frenchtown Connection.
Doty and Spicknall then drove to the Alcan Bar and when Lange showed up he rammed the victim's car. Lange also pulled out a rifle and fired a round into the hood of the victim's car.
The victim, who was in the car with his friend, left and the Lange pursued them to Missoula. The driver ended up losing Lange and drove to the Missoula Police Department.
Lange was later arrested in Missoula and is being charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, felony criminal mischief, two counts of misdemeanor assault.
