The body of a motorcyclist who was believed to be missing in Montana was found by elk hunters in Idaho over the weekend.
Donald Masters left Orofino, ID on Monday, Aug. 31 for West Yellowstone and Denver and had not been heard from since, according to a posting on www.advrider.com. The Web site asked that anyone traveling Lolo Pass or anywhere between Missoula and West Yellowstone be on the lookout for Masters.
Masters' body was found by three elk hunters near Salmon almost three weeks after he had apparently crashed, according to Idaho State Police. Masters had apparently failed to negotiate a turn on Highway 93 and traveled down a small embankment into an empty irrigation ditch next to the Salmon River.
The 63-year-old Colorado man was wearing a helmet. He was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene. Masters, who was reported missing on Sept. 13, crashed on Aug. 31, according to Idaho State Police.
The last time Masters used his credit card was to purchase gas in Lolo on the morning of Monday, Aug. 31. He was spotted on a traffic surveillance camera in Darby that afternoon.
Hunters found the crash site Sunday morning.
