A Butte woman has admitted to embezzling from a labor union. Laura Ann Brown, 42, pleaded guilty on Thursday during a federal court session in Helena.
She served as president of Teachers Local Union 5095 for 4 ½ years and during that time, it was discovered she had embezzled more than $7,700 for her own personal use.
Brown worked full-time at Acadia, a mental health facility for children in Butte. The union has about 100 members from Acadia.
Sentencing in the case is set for March 11th.

Laura Ann Brown, 42, appeared before U.S. Judge Jeremiah Lynch and pleaded not guilty to labor union embezzlement. She is accused of stealing $7,700 from the American Federation of Teachers Local Union 5095 from Jan. 1, 2004 through Nov. 21, 2008. The union represents non-management staff at Acadia.
Eric Feaver of the AFL-CIO says Brown was president of the union, which represents non-management staff at Acadia Montana, a residential treatment center for troubled youth in Butte.
If convicted she faces possible penalties of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine and three years supervised release.
