Two women are facing charges in what authorities describe as a prostitution and forgery ring involving several jurisdictions in northwest Montana.
Amanda Wyatt, 21 and Sonya Pitkin, 22, who have been living in the Columbia Falls area, are being investigated by the Secret Service, the Whitefish Police Department, the Flathead County Sheriff's Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department in a case that involves lap dances, stolen checks and fake money.
The situation came to light when a Trego man filed a complaint in Lincoln County that some of his checks had been stolen and that $3,000 worth had later been cashed.
Investigators say that the man met the two women on what's described as an adult "friend finder" website and that Pitkin later had intercourse with the man in hotels in Kalispell and Whitefish where he paid out between $400 and $500 for each encounter.
Police say that another incident happened at the man's home in Trego, and that's apparently when the checks were stolen while the other suspect performed a lap dance.
An investigation into the stolen checks also turned up counterfeit $50 bills which were made on a cheap printer and then treated with oven cleaner to give them an older, worn look. Authorities tell us that dozens of the fake bills have been passed out across the Flathead over the past few weeks.
The two women, who previously lived in the Las Vegas area, turned themselves in over the weekend and have not yet been formally charged in the case. The pair are likely to face stolen check, forgery and prostitution charges.
Authorities also say that the Whitefish Police Department plans to issue a warrant charging the man involved with prostitution.
