A Dillon woman was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to delivering drugs sewn into the waistbands of men's underwear to her boyfriend and another inmate at the Beaverhead County Detention Center.
Shelby Lawrie, 20, appeared before District Judge Loran Tucker Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of dangerous drugs. A second count was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Tucker handed down a two-year deferred sentence.
According to court documents, Lawrie sewed prescription pills of Adderall into the waistbands of two pairs of boxer shorts and delivered them to two male inmates in the Beaverhead County Detention Center on March 15.
A search of the cells and inmates produced seven more pairs of boxer shorts all with slits in the waistband and more than a dozen Seroquel tablets. That charge was dismissed.
Court records say Lawrie delivered the medication at the request of her boyfriend, Brian Rand. In February, a jury convicted him of raping and abusing a previous girlfriend. He was later sentenced to 20 years to the department of corrections with 15 suspended.
