Fallen firefighters to be honored

Montana Governor Brain Schweitzer has ordered that all flags on state property to be flown at half-staff on Sunday, October 4th, in observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.     

Central Valley Fire's Color Guard will take part in the ceremony at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Maryland.

Montana's fallen firefighters include Gregory Gonsiorski- Neptune Aviation Services; Zachary Jake

Vander Griend-Neptune Aviation Services; Michael J. MacDonald- Chief Mountain Hotshots, Blackfeet Tribe; Jerry J. Parrick- West End Volunteer Fire and Rescue; and Gert H. Marais- Aero Applicators, CO State Forest Service.

A little over a hundred fallen firefighters from 36 states will be honored at the ceremony, including four Montana firefighters and another Montanan who was killed in Colorado.
