Workers at the South 19th Avenue construction project in Bozeman are tying up a few loose ends before possibly wrapping up for the winter next week.
Snow and cold temperatures have put a damper on plans, and crews will not finish the work they wanted to by the end of this season.
Josh Walter, project manager for the Knife River Mountain Region office in Belgrade, said there are only a few tasks to finish up before chip seal and pavement markings anyway.
Median curb has just about been completed along S. 19th between W. Kagy and College Streets, as well as the median cap. Dirt crews have finished topsoiling the entire project and only have a few areas to touch up, which should be completed by next week. The signal at S. 19th and W. Koch Street is up and ready to be turned on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
This week and next, concrete crews plan on wrapping median curb islands along S. 19th at both the east and west approaches of W. Garfield and W. Lincoln Streets, weather permitting. Then, general project cleanup will more than likely wrap this project up for the winter.
Walter said unless the weather outlook drastically improves, they will be back sometime in late spring to finish up median curb/cap along College Street and along S. 19th between College Street and W. Babcock Street. This, along with chip seal and final pavement markings will complete the project.
