A home went up in flames south of Huntley on Thursday evening, with Worden Fire Captain Andy Dean saying that the trailer home is a total loss after it was gutted by fire.
The blaze was reported just before 7:00 p.m. and crews from the Shepherd and Worden fire departments responded. One water tender and an engine came from Shepherd while another water tender and engine came from Worden. The tenders were needed due to a lack of hydrants in the rural area.
Fire officials tell us nobody was home at the time of the fire, but there may have been animals inside. Captain Dean said the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, but crews report that the fire was heaviest near a water heater inside the trailer.
