The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development named a Montana woman as its HUD Manager of the Year for her outstanding efforts in providing housing for low income seniors.
Karen Foster of Foster and Associates owns and operates two facilities in Montana, the Clark Fork Riverside in Missoula and the Whitefish Manor. Her selection came from a large list of property managers from Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Foster took the time to thank a few agencies and her staff after receiving her reward. People who she says make her job easier and also enrich the lives of those living at the Clark Fork Riverside.
"The people here get to live in this beautiful facility, this is for low income people 62 years of age or older, and without HUD and without the support of the Department of Commerce, we wouldn't have this beautiful facility" Foster said.
She added that 30 of her tenants are over the age of 90, a fact that she credits to her staff's preparations of healthy and nutritional meals.
