A Good Samaritan, who tried to help a seemingly stranded man, had his car stolen at knifepoint just west of Missoula Thursday night.

Missoula County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Burt says the victim stopped to help the man near Petty Creek.

Burt says the suspect pulled a knife, took the victim's 2003 Ford Focus and drove off along the frontage road toward Missoula.

The victim wasn't injured, but walked nearly an hour to Alberton, where he called police to report the incident.
