Bitterroot National Forest officials report that log hauling on the Middle East Fork Stewardship II project has been approved on the weekends.
The weekend log hauling will occur on the East Fork Highway began on October 31st and will continue throughout the big game hunting season.
The log hauling will be limited to log landings adjacent to the East Fork Highway between mile markers 9 and 12, west of Guide Creek and Bertie Lord Creek.
Joni Lubke with the Bitterroot National Forest says that the log hauling will not occur on U.S. Forest Service roads that access the surrounding forest drainages such as Guide Creek, Jennings Camp Creek or Meadow Creek. The hauling will also be limited to daylight hours.
Signs will be posted on the East Fork Highway and the public is being advised to drive with caution and be aware of truck traffic entering and traveling the highway.
Additional information about the project can be obtained by calling the Sula Ranger District at (406) 821.3201.
