The Missoula County Elections Department reports that as of Monday, some 27% of registered Missoula voters have turned in their mail in ballots for Tuesday's local elections.
County Elections Officer Vickie Zeier predicts they will count anywhere from 12,000 to 15,000 ballots on Election Day.
Elections staff will begin counting ballots early in the day at their new offices at the Missoula County Fairgrounds, and hope to have first results as early as 8:15 p.m. (The polls close at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.)
Ballots are slowly coming in and Zeier says Tuesday will be busy when people make their way to the fairgrounds to register.
"I expect to have a few late registrations to come in to the fairgrounds here and register to vote and also expect to get quite a few ballots to be dropped off."
Voters can drop off mail-in ballot at Cold Springs Elementary School, the Missoula County Courthouse, the Missoula County Elections Department at the fairgrounds, Hellgate Elementary School, Lowell Elementary School, Paxson Elementary School, Rattlesnake School, Russell Elementary School and at Seeley Lake schools.
The drop off sites will be there from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
