Belgrade school employee admits to embezzlement

The clerk and business manager for Belgrade's Public School District has been suspended without pay after pleading guilty to embezzling money from a Bozeman wrestling club.

Superintendent Herb Benz says the school board will meet next Monday to determine if Susan Lang, 42, should keep her job.

Lang is accused of taking about $20,000 from the Bozeman Hawks Wrestling Club over the last five or six years when she was a bookkeeper for the organization.

Benz says the district's annual audit is underway and that he does not believe Lang has taken any money from Belgrade school coffers.

Lang's attorney says his client told him she only took $10,000 from the wrestling club and has since paid it back.

She has pleaded guilty to felony embezzlement and is set to be sentenced next month.
