A man from Kalispell is behind bars after officers say he sprayed a city attorney with a fire extinguisher.
Detectives say Devin Hines drove onto the sidewalk of the police, fire and city court building on Thursday night.
Witnesses said Hines asked where officers were, then grabbed a fire extinguisher off the wall and started spraying the hall and city court area.
He sprayed the city attorney twice, but he wrestled it away from Hines. The attorney then entered the police department, and the suspect pushed his way past. Officers then took Hines to the ground and arrested him.
Detectives say Hines appeared emotionally distraught and aggressive. Now, the department is taking a closer look at building security.
"I think anytime something like this happens its enlightening, you re-evaluate things and you try to look at the way things could be secure, so you bet, things are going to be evaluated a little bit and hopefully some adjustments made," said Doug Overman, Kalispell Police Detective.
Detectives say Hines will face charges of assault, obstructing officers, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
