A woman was seriously hurt in a Wednesday morning accident on U.S. Highway 93 near the Wye.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Drew Novak says that a woman driving north on U.S. Highway 93 in Frenchtown lost control of her vehicle Wednesday morning, drifted into oncoming traffic and was then hit head-on by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane.
Novak says the woman was taken to a Missoula hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.
Wednesday morning’s slippery roads has been causing numerous accidents in the Frenchtown area. Officials were also forced to close down U.S. Highway 93 at Evaro Hill after several semi trucks became stuck on the road.
An accident was reported on Mullan Road near mile marker 8 and a rollover crash happened near the Frenchtown scales on westbound Interstate 90.
Authorities were also dealing with numerous slide-off accidents, including on Nine Mile Road and Deep Creek Road in Missoula County. A crash was also reported on the Frenchtown Frontage Road near Frenchtown High School.

(initial report from Wednesday morning) The Missoula Department of Transportation reports that U.S. Highway 93 between mile marker 1 and Mlle marker 4 is no longer blocked.
Northbound traffic is moving on Evaro Hill, but the road is snowcovered and icy.
The Missoula County Sheriff's Office reported that the road was shutdown at about 6:15 due to poor road conditions which had caused several semi trucks to spinout on the roadway.
Also, the DOT reported an accident on U.S. Highway 93 at mile marker 1. And an accident was also reported on Wednesday morning between mile marker 7 and mile marker 8 on Mullan Road.
Sand trucks were called out to help deal with the slippery roads.
