Emergency personnel are responding to accidents on the roadways in Billings.  A winter storm Thursday left roads icy and slick, making for a dicey Friday morning commute.    

Jon Arneson of RoadWatch Montana says drivers should be aware of icy patches in Billings, but he says the main roads are in pretty good shape.  He says to expect very slick driving conditions up and down I-90 and I-94.  There are reports of black ice on I-90 from Lockwood to Lodge Grass.  Black Ice is also being reported on MT-3 from Broadview to Lavina.    

Heading west from Park City to Bozeman, Arneson says to watch for snow, ice, and slush with foggy conditions in the morning.  The Bozeman Pass was closed for a short time yesterday is reportedly very slick.    

In the Red Lodge area Arneson is reporting snow and ice on US-212 and 310 and on State 72 and 78.  He says to watch for accumulating ice on bridge decks, over passes, and on and off ramps in the morning.  Drivers are being urged to slow down and allow for some extra time.    

Thursday night 1-90 was closed temporality after slick roads caused a major pile-up involving at least eight vehicles, including a semi and a UPS truck.  The Montana Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 9:30 PM along westbound I-90, about a mile west of the Zoo Drive Interchange.  No major injuries were reported, but traffic was diverted to the frontage road. Montana Highway Patrol reports several other slide-off accidents along both the westbound and east bound lanes last night because of slick ice decks.
