Limited H1N1 vaccine supplies have gotten a lot of attention this fall, but now lack of seasonal vaccinations are raising concern.
Ravalli County received a limited supply of the seasonal flu vaccine and were completely out by October 1st.
Ravalli County Public Health Nursing Director Judy Griffin told us the manufactures are the same for Seasonal and HN1 vaccine, and right now they are focusing on H1N1.
"We are hoping that we'll be able to get more seasonal but we've tried to call the company and we have not been able to get more seasonal." says Griffin.
Ravalli County residents in the risk categories, are still attending H1N1 clinics, including the one held Saturday, to get vaccinated.
Christina Montgomery a mother of three says, "Its been great especially it being free I mean I was willing to pay or go to the doctors office to get it done, so this was really great and fast and easy and convenient."
Christina Montgomery and her three children, Colton, Allison and Maddison all got vaccinated after filling out the required paperwork and waiting in line. "Well it didn't even hurt at all." says Allison.
The clinic moved smoothly allowing people to get vaccinated, without taking up too much of their day.
"A lot of people came last week right at the beginning they were lined up they came and it was fairly steady," says Griffin. "but we're really pleased with the turnout now because it's a continuous stream of people."
Griffin says even if Ravalli Co. Residents have received the H1N1 vaccine or the seasonal flu shot they still should use the preventative methods like washing hands, getting rest, and eating well to avoid getting sick.
Now that Christina and her little ones are vaccinated she feels a lot better about H1N1.
"My husbands still gotta be vaccinated though so hopefully he can hit it next weekend."
If you're a Ravalli County resident and missed Saturday's clinic, the next one is on November 19th from 4 PM to 7 PM in Florence.
