Paleontologists are not just finding dinosaur bones in the Badlands of Montana, they also claim to be finding organic material, like blood vessels, that could be 68,000,000 years old.
Famed Montana State University Paleontologist Jack Horner has an unorthodox method of breaking open dinosaur bones, and what he found inside has ignited a firestorm in paleontologist circles.
He worked with a former Montanan and found that after dissolving away the bones what was left was something that looked like soft tissue and blood vessels.
Many scientists criticized the finding saying they do not believe organic material could survive tens of millions of years and Horner is skeptical that he will find DNA but he is looking for DNA fragments. But, it’s just part of his effort to build a dinosaur.
Horner's interview with Lesley Stahl aired on "60 Minutes" Sunday night on Montana's News Station.
