A Dillon native was given a 10-year suspended sentence after admitting to stabbing a man in an alley behind the Moose Bar in December 2008.
Tyler Rawson was sentenced Tuesday. As part of a pre-trial agreement, Rawson pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon.
Dillon police say they found Rawson on top of Collyn Vandelier, 23, during a bar fight, which led to Rawson brandishing a three-and-a-half inch blade and stabbing Vandelier in the sternum.
Experts testified Tuesday that the stab wound was only inches from being fatal. However, Judge Loren Tucker found Rawson to be sincere and remorseful after apologizing to Vandelier in the courtroom.
