Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer wrapped up a two-day trip to Missoula on Wednesday.
Between meetings he saved time to have lunch with his daughter, a University of Montana sophomore, for her 20th birthday on Tuesday, and then Wednesday he toured a new affordable housing project.
Schweitzer arrived at homeWORD's Equinox project on Liberty Lane, eager to learn the details of the building. He inspected features of the eco-friendly facility and asked questions to renters. Following the tour, he announced a challenge to encourage the building's residents to conserve as much energy as possible.
"What I've proposed (is) that the grand prize winner in each of the size apartments…over the next six months…the apartments that use the least amount of energy, the First Lady and myself will take to dinner in June."
Schweitzer also said he is already looking ahead to Saturday's big football game between the Griz and Cats and asked everyone taking part in Wednesday’s tour for their game predictions.
