The sounds of the holidays are already filling the airwaves for one Missoula radio station.
Eric O'Connor is the Program Director at 101.5 FM, the View, a station which has been on the air since March. Last week they started playing Christmas music 24 hours a day.
"You can drive down Reserve and see trees already decorated with lights, so we thought why not give people that option if they start their holidays early as opposed to the traditional start of Thanksgiving” O’Connor told us.
He started putting together the holiday play list months ago and says that Christmas music is a perfect gift for those having a rough go of it. "Very uplifting, positive, comforting. For people going through a tough year, why not provide something positive and cozy?"
The station has a huge catalog of almost 1,000 Christmas songs and promises not to play the same version of the same song the same day.
O'Connor has no qualms about playing 24 hour a day Christmas music more than a month before the holiday itself. “If others want to start at Thanksgiving or even in December, we'll be here through Christmas to provide a soundtrack for that."
He added that 101.5 FM will keep playing all Christmas music until the weekend after the holiday, except for the occasional broadcasts of Griz football and Griz basketball.
