Missoula bachelor party ends in melee

Five people got a pretty sobering experience on Thursday night after a bachelor party got out of control in Missoula.

Police say the group got kicked out of Hooters on North Reserve for their disruptive behavior.

But they weren't done whopping it up as the party moved downtown. Police put a quick end to the celebration when five of them ended up getting arrested.

Police say some folks were challenging authority, by getting in the way of the officers who were trying to arrest people in their group.

Three of the five people are facing misdemeanor charges, while two others are facing felony charges.

Court papers say that Jordan Iddings will be facing one felony and four misdemeanor charges following an altercation which broke out at Red's Bar.

Bartenders tried to get the party to leave, but some in the group forced one bartender to the ground and began hitting him.

Police were called to the scene and court papers say that the ruckus lasted for about an hour and many in the group were arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer.

Bystanders pointed to Iddings as being at the center of the problem, and when police attempted to arrest him court documents state that some in the group approached the officers, causing them to draw out their pepper spray, although none was used.

Court documents further state that as the arresting officers took Iddings to a police car, he lunged toward a Missoula police Sergeant and then head-butted him.

Iddings is charged with felony assault, two counts of misdemeanor assault, sexual assault, for allegedly groping a woman at another downtown bar, and disorderly conduct.

Another member of the bachelor party, identified in court documents as Ryan Schnabl, is facing a felony count of tampering with evidence as well as theft and assault charges.

Schnabl is accused of attacking the limo driver hired for the party, William Hennefer, and taking his digital camera.

Hennefer was hired to drive the bachelor party around town on Thursday night, and when he saw the altercation break out at Red's Bar, court documents state that Hennefer took out a video camera to record the incident.

Schnabl is accused of then attacking Hennefer, punching him in the side of the head and then took his camera.

As the situation escalated, Hennefer told authorities he was afraid of what the group was going to do to him, so he pulled out a small revolver and court documents say he was "so afraid he almost pulled the trigger".

Hennefer had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and is not facing charges. The camera has not been found.
