Monday was the deadline to submit proposals from private landowners in Butte-Silver Bow for the construction of a new veterans' nursing home.
Six counties in the region are vying to host the $10 million facility.
No new proposals were submitted for Butte-Silver Bow, Community Development Director Karen Byrnes said.
Three proposals were already on the table so far. Two private landowners are offering to donate land in Butte and the Galen area. The local government is also offering to donate land and is considering property behind N-CAT and at the Travonia Mine.
Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive Paul Babb says they will also considered other county owned property.
A working committee will tour the sites next week.
(From Nov. 20, 2009)
Butte-Silver Bow is soliciting interest from private landowners who might want to donate property for the construction of a veteran's nursing home.
Six counties in the region are vying to host the $10 million facility. In the meantime, Chief Executive Paul Babb has formed a working committee to identify suitable properties in Butte-Silver Bow.
There are some requirements for the site. It must be nine to 10 acres in size and in close proximity to public water and sewer facilities. Also, the selection process stipulates that the land must be donated for the project.
Interested parties are asked to submit a brief letter, including a description of the land offered, to Karen Byrnes, community development director, at 115 West Granite Street, room 115, Butte, MT 59701.
The deadline to submit letters is Monday, Nov. 30 by 5 p.m.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer appointed six veterans to a site selection committee. Final proposals are due in early February and a decision is expected in April.
