Train, van collide near Browning

The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating a crash between an Amtrak train and a vehicle which happened near Browning on Friday evening.

A 22-year old man crossed the railroad tracks near East Pfifter Crossing on U.S. Highway 2 at around 6:30 p.m.

Authorities say he was stopping on the westbound tracks when the train, which was en route to Whitefish, hit his Chevy van.

The train traveled 1,000 feet before stopping, pushing the car 99 feet after impact. The man was transported for medical treatment.
