The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department will begin accepting appointments for H1N1 flu vaccines.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 4 the health department will make appointments for the H1N1 vaccine for people ages five to 24 years old and those ages 25 to 64 with medical conditions that put them at high risk for complications of influenza. The vaccine will only be given to people in this target population.
To schedule an appointment call 497-5020. If the appointments fill up, the health department will be doing additional appointments as more vaccine comes in. The health department will announce when those appointments will be available.
Last week, Butte students lined up to receive vaccinations at area schools.
The health department provided 107 H1N1 vaccinations, including 30 nasal mist and 77 injections, at Butte High School on Nov. 19. That same day, the health department provided 96 H1N1 vaccinations, including 14 nasal mist and 82 injections, at East Middle School.
On Friday, Nov 20, the health department provided 83 vaccinations at East Middle School, including 78 injections and five nasal mists. That included 38 vaccinations to the four-year-old to 18-year-old age group and 45 vaccinations to people between the ages of 25 and 65 years old.
“As we had plenty of vaccine that day we did offer the vaccine to the staff at East, some Butte High students that missed the Butte High clinic and family members that came in with the East students,” Assistant Health Officer Karen Billson said in a news release.
