Teachers at Lolo school are continuing to fight for a wage increase following six months worth of negotiations with School District officials.
A special board meeting was called on Monday evening, but no agreement was reached during the session.
School Board members are now giving the negotiations team one more chance to secure a compromise, and then plan to hold yet another meeting between the Lolo Education Association and Lolo School District to finally so that deal can be reached.
The school district remains adamant about providing a 1.5% increase, saying that the faculty has been given an 11% increase in base salary over the past three years, not including other incentives.
But, teachers are seeking a 2.5% increase, which they say would still bring yearly salaries below the average for the Missoula area.
There is an emergency fund the school doesn't want to touch especially in rough economic times.
Both parties say Monday's meeting was a step in the right direction. Lolo first grade teacher Judy Lange believes its real important to come to an agreement because everyone wants Lolo to be a good school, and without cooperation from both sides, they aren't working with the best interest of children in mind.
Lolo School Superintendent Michael Magone says staff members want to use one-time only money in an emergency fund for salaries, and that's not a good idea, especially during rough economy times.
Also during Monday's meeting, the Lolo School Board approved a 1.5% increase for the school administrators which includes two principals and the superintendent.
