The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust are offering up a reward in connection with a Missoula moose poaching case.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks law enforcement say the female moose was shot and killed the week before November 25th in the southeast area of the city and the moose had a calf who may not survive the winter.
This case appears to be the most recent incident in a string of poaching's. During the week of November 15th, three spike elk were killed and left in a private field south of Hall. Law enforcement also noted several incidents of illegally killing buck deer within Missoula city limits.
Anyone with information about the poaching cases should call 1-800-TIP-MONT. You could be eligible for a $2,500 reward.
(from November 24, 2009) Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks needs your help finding those responsible for a series of poaching incidents, including at least one in the Missoula city limits.
Warden Captain Jeff Darrah said someone shot a deer with a bow in the Rattlesnake. He added that anyone who notices anyone suspicious lurking around there, or in the South Hills at night, should call 911.
Darrah also says someone shot and killed a cow moose and left it in the middle of the road in upper Miller Creek between Miller Creek and Schwartz Creek. That shooting left a calf moose orphaned and happened on Monday.
FWP is also looking for who shot and killed three spike bull elk near Hall off Douglas Creek in Granite County. That incident happened about five to seven days ago.
If you have any information about these two incidents, call 1-800-TIP-MONT and you could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
