It's the day to pack on the calories without worrying - for most people, anyway - but not for fitness die-hards.
Gold's Gym in Great Falls was open on Thanksgiving and stuffed with people looking to burn some calories before binging on turkey, potatoes, and pie.
Classes for Zumba and spinning were packed.
Greg Hall, Gold's Gym general manager, explained, "Well, today is Thanksgiving day and it's a nice day to have a 'pre-burn the calories off' kind of workout for folks, and so these people are coming in today to get a good workout in, and make a charitable donation for Toys For Tots."
Folks were asked to bring a $5.00 donation, and the gym and the Downtown Dog House also donated money. Gym staff estimates hundreds of dollars will be given to Toys For Tots.
By the way, it would take the average person about five hours of running to burn off the calories in a typical Thanksgiving meal.
