Holiday shoppers need to beware, because while you're shopping in the store, thieves may be doing their shopping in the parking lots.
"There's only a small amount of glass between your belongings and an individual who really has an interest in taking presents home of their own" Missoula Police Chief Mark Muir warned.
Muir wants to remind people not to leave their purchases in plain sight, to lock their car doors and not to leave merchandise unattended for long periods of time.
Police advise not making repeat trips to your car to drop off items, because someone may be watching and could break into your vehicle when you leave again.
Authorities also say folks should not leave large items, like TVs and exercise equipment, unattended in the bed of your pick up because nothing is too big to steal.
Muir added they usually see the many of the thefts this time of year in the North Reserve area and around the Southgate Mall.
