Missoula-area businesses are always eager to have more fans coming into town to spend their money when it comes time for a Griz football game.
But they can't always count on out of state business, and they have to compete with hot shopping days like the big retailers, Black Friday included.
Several local businesses made a late decision to add Black Friday discounts as a way to compete. The local retailers we talked with say they have to do more than just open their doors on Black Friday to draw the crowds that typically go to larger national chains.
"I think, in looking back, it was successful. We had some more people coming in, but I think we and other local businesses need to do more than just let people know we're open. It's such a busy day of the year" explained Montana Homefitters Manager Brett Baisden.
