The body of a Forsyth man who's been missing since mid-December has been found.

Rosebud County Sheriff Roger Alles tells us that a sheriff's deputy and a Fish Wildlife & Parks employee discovered the body of Tom Smith, 39, in the Yellowstone River west of Forsyth.

Sheriff Ales adds that an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Smith was first reported missing on December 17, 2007. While his vehicle was found near Forsyth, the search was called off after a week because searchers could find no clues as to his whereabouts.

Around 100 volunteers spent the weekend looking for a man from Forsyth who's been missing since December 17th but have found no trace of him.

Rosebud County Sheriff Randy Allies says people searched by the air, on horse, foot and off-road vehicle for Thomas Smith.

A motorist reported Smith's vehicle in a ditch about two miles from his house on December 17th and a deputy who responded found Smith's vehicle, but no sign of him.

Sheriff Allies says there is no evidence of foul play, no clues at Smith's house, and there has been no activity on his bank or credit cards.

Authorities are searching near Forsyth for man who's been missing for a week. Rosebud County officials tell us that Tom Smith, 39, of Forsyth was last seen on Smith Creek Road last Monday night.

The Rosebud County Sheriff says that an extensive air and ground search has turned up nothing and adds that all resources have been exhausted.

Family members tell us Smith, 39, had been drinking Monday when the Suburban that he was driving got stuck in an embankment on Smith Creek road. A passerby last saw Smith wandering away from the scene about a mile west of Forsyth.

Officials say that GPS tracking done on Smith's cell phone has also turned up nothing.

Smith is a licensed hunting guide and is described as being 5'8" tall, weighing about 145 pounds. At the time he went missing, Smith was wearing wranglers, a black cowboy hat, a flannel shirt and a camouflage jacket.
