Sub-zero temperatures didn't stop members of the community from attending the Montana State University Billings annual ceremony to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.
Reverend Teresa Swift from Wayman Chapel opened the ceremony with a special prayer.
Attendees also delivered the words of some Dr King's famous speeches.
Governor Brian Schweitzer came out to show his support and so did Republican candidate for governor Roy Brown.
Event organizers say it's important for the community to recognize and honor the legendary Dr King.
"The work of Martin Luther King speaks to all of us no matter race, gender or whatever," said MSU-B Director for Community Involvement Kathy Kotecki, "Coming together to make our community better. Here we feel this is important for our students to get that education and be apart of that experience."
A candlelight vigil followed by a march through downtown will also be held in Billings. The vigil begins at 6:30 pm at the Yellowstone County Courthouse lawn on January 21st.
