Officials with the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department are issuing a warning about a pair of phone scams that have been making the rounds.
The so-called Grandparents Scam is when grandparents get a call from someone claiming to be their grandchild. The person pretends to be in trouble and asks for wired money.
So far, all of the cases reviewed by the sheriff's office involved money that was sent to Canada.
The second is a lottery scam which is also based out of Canada. In this case, someone calls claiming the victim has won the lottery. The "winner" is then directed to call an agent who asks for a processing fee in order to get the winnings.
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office urging people to ignore all mail and phone solicitations and to let them know if contacted by scammers.
