A pair of weekend earthquakes in the southern Tobacco Root Mountains, southwest of Pony, shook up part of southwestern Montana.
The earthquake studies office at the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology in Butte says the first quake, which register 3.8 was reported at 10:22 Saturday morning. A magnitude four quake occurred just after 6:00 PM Saturday.
Mike Stickney at the office in Butte says at least 20 aftershocks occurred Saturday night, and early Sunday.
18 people, from Anaconda to Livingston, contacted the U-S Geological Survey about the first earthquake.
Stickney says that because the area hit is pretty remote he doesn't expect to get any reports of damage.
