Tester and Baucus vote against national ID card funding

Montana Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester successfully put the brakes on establishing a national ID card.

Wednesday, the Senate passed a measure by Baucus and Tester that prohibits tax dollars from being used to plan, test, pilot or develop a national ID card.

The senators' measure was included in the omnibus appropriations bill that passed Senate late Tuesday night.

Baucus, Tester and many others, are concerned that the creating a national ID card could put U.S. citizens in harms way by putting all of their personal information in one place and could threaten Americans' privacy.
