BILLINGS - The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office says a 16-year-old boy hit by a truck in Lockwood last night, remains in the intensive care unit and the coroner will provide an update on the boy's condition.
The accident happened on Becraft Lane near Starlight Drive, around 5:40 Thursday night.
The Montana Highway Patrol says two boys were walking east along the roadway when a pickup truck - also eastbound, hit the pedestrian closest to the road.
Trooper Eli Wolfe tells Q2 that the boys were wearing dark clothing and had their backs to traffic.
An ambulance took the 16-year old Billings boy to St. Vincent Healthcare.
Friday afternoon, investigators with the Highway Patrol were back on the scene to further the investigation.
Trooper Wolfe says the shoulder is narrow and the area is dark at night, making it difficult to see pedestrians.
Troopers marked spots on Becraft and on the dirt shoulder leading up to Starlight.
The 71-year old male driver of the pickup truck - has not been charged.
Trooper Wolfe told Q2 he can't rule out that the driver may have been impaired, but he does not suspect alcohol was a factor.
