According to Forest Service officials, today there are 2,100 people and 396 vehicles are in the Jackson area.
The U.S. Forest Service, Beaverhead County, City of Dillon and Wisdom and Jackson communities, are preparing for a busy weekend.
Weekend activities, including the Ride Around the Pioneers in One Day (RATPOD) and June Jubilee, will increase the number of people and traffic in the area. Local officials ask the public to be patient and watch out for bicyclists on the roadways.
The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest would like to remind forest visitors that possessing, discharging or using any kind of fireworks is prohibited on National Forest lands.
Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest officials say with the Rainbow Family Gathering traffic will increase greatly over the weekend on the main access roads to the Saginaw Creek area.
The Forest Service reminds visitors that dust and wash boarding could occur on Forest Service dirt roads as they dry out.
Drivers are being urged to use defensive driving techniques and obey all traffic signs and laws.
