(CNN) -- A ship carrying about 250 people capsized off the coast of Sicily, Italian news agency ANSA reported Friday.
The death toll from the ship that capsized in international waters near the Italian island of Lampedusa has climbed to 31, according to the Maltese military.
More than 200 survivors were pulled from the water, but the search continues for more than a dozen people believed missing, the military said.
