Alleged Bozeman car thief drives into police parking lot in Washington

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol troopers captured an alleged SUV thief when the driver pulled into the WSP parking lot.

One of the troopers noticed the suspicious vehicle in the Spokane lot on Thursday. He ran the plates, and the registered owner turned out to have a warrant out for his arrest.

The trooper stopped the driver, who said he wasn't the owner of SUV and reportedly attempted to give a fake name. The suspect's ID was found in his back pocket once he got out of the car.

Brook Abbott, 42, was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant.

After further investigation, troopers learned the SUV's plates were registered to a red GMC, although the SUV was a Chevy Blazer. WSP realized the Blazer was originally reported stolen out of Bozeman, Mont., when they checked the VIN.

A passenger in the Blazer took off as Abbott was being arrested, according to WSP. Charles Miller, 42, already had a felony warrant out for his arrest, as well. Troopers found him at a Denny's restaurant at Geiger and Grove. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on that felony charge.

Abbott was booked into the jail for his previous charge, giving false information and possession of stolen property.
