KALISPELL - Flathead County Attorney Ed Corrigan says he expects to have paperwork on Monday to file charges against Joseph Powell in connection with a crash that killed two people.
The crash happened on Thursday evening on U.S. Highway 93, south of Kalispell.
Powell, 46, was arrested and taken into custody Friday, and faces preliminary charges of negligent homicide.
He was initially taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and treated for a broken left arm and a dislocated right hip.
Powell's 43-year-old passenger, who has not yet been identified, was also taken to KRMC where he was later pronounced dead.
Brian Delaney, 43, of Kalispell was hit head-on in the crash and was killed instantly.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says they have not yet been able to locate the family of the passenger in Powell's vehicle.
"We have notified the next of kin of one of the individuals who was killed. We are working...to try and find next of kin for the other individual. That's ongoing. Hopefully we will have that maybe within the next day or so, and we'll release his name at that time," he explained.
Powell could make his initial appearance in Flathead District Court on Monday if he's officially charged by the Flathead County Attorney's Office.
