MISSOULA - A Canadian man, who is accused of abducting his son from a supervised visit and then crossing the border into Montana, is fighting his extradition to British Columbia.
Robert Barnett was the subject of an Amber Alert issued Thursday for his 3-year-old son.
Barnett crossed into the United States near Eureka and was arrested early Friday morning after a man recognized Barnett from the alert.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said Barnett was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service on Sunday.
Barnett appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Strong in Great Falls Monday and did not agree to be voluntarily expedited.
Barnett requested bail and extradition hearings, which are scheduled in Great Falls Nov. 27 and Jan. 31.
