TRENTON, ND - An eastbound Amtrak train struck a bulldozer on Monday evening in North Dakota.
The operator of the bulldozer was taken by LifeFlight to a hospital in Williston, North Dakota; KUMV TV reports that the man later died.
The accident happened as the bulldozer operator attempted to cross the tracks on the north side of the highway, but due to a blind curve, the train came around a corner and collided with the bulldozer, knocking it over and causing considerable damage.
Road 1804 in the area is under construction and parallels tracks between Trenton and Highway 58.
Initial reports indicate that no one on the train was injured, but officials on the train did not allow passengers to disembark to get rides with waiting friends until a replacement engine arrived.
