HAMILTON - At least 50 residents and staff at a Hamilton nursing home are sick with a gastrointestinal illness.
Ravalli County Health Officer, Carol Calderwood says the first illness was reported from a resident of the Valley View Estates on Saturday. Since then, dozens of other residents and caregivers have gotten sick.
Calderwood says they are working on a diagnosis and waiting to hear back from the state lab to find out exactly what the illness is.
At this time, Valley View Estates is restricting visitors and limiting staff to prevent the illness from spreading.
Calderwood says the residents are being quarantined in their rooms and the facility is doing their best from keeping the illness from spreading within the facility.
