GREAT FALLS - A Great Falls neighborhood was shaken up after a man allegedly attempted to kidnap a 2-year-old girl in Chowen Springs Park.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
The family of the little girl said it happened around 5 p.m. on Saturday when the girl slipped out their door right near the park.
The girl's brother said she was only outside for a minute when he walked outside to see a man carrying her.
He and another neighbor said they yelled out his sister's name and the man dropped her; e then ran south through the park.
Many neighbors quickly heard the story and said they are keeping an extra close eye on their children.
"It's pretty scary," Stacy Evans, a neighbor, said. "It's just right here in the back of my house. I took off for five minutes when it went to happen and it could have been one of my children. It's devastating. It's something that needs to be addressed to everybody that it's out there and it's not too far away from you."
The family and neighbors describe the suspect as a white, bald man in his 30s. Other neighbors said they have seen him in this area before.
Great Falls police said they are looking into potential suspects and are following up on leads provided by the neighborhood.
