BILLINGS - Barry Beach is now in the custody of the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday morning, and he turned himself in shortly after 11 a.m.
It's expected that Beach will be taken to the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge, but when that will happen is not yet known.
The Montana Supreme Court issued a ruling on Tuesday afternoon that denied Beach a new trial in connection with the 1979 murder of Kim Nees of Poplar.
Beach was convicted of the crime in 1983 and served 29 years in the Montana State Prison.
He was released in December 2011 after a District Court judge in Lewistown determined that Beach should get a new trial.
Tuesday's decision by the Montana Supreme Court means that Beach will likely now serve the remainder of his 100-year sentence.
